1.1 Retrospective First-Person Narration
The narrator is Edmund himself, speaking from a future point in his life.
The narrating Edmund already knows the events of the story. The playable Edmund experiences those events without that future knowledge.
1.2 Narrator Knowledge
The future narrator may contextualize earlier events, reflect on mistakes, reconsider memories, and foreshadow later developments without immediately revealing their outcomes.
1.3 Playable Edmund vs. Narrating Edmund
During gameplay, Edmund reacts according to his knowledge at that moment.
During retrospective narration, Edmund may demonstrate greater understanding of the events being described.
1.4 Narrative Reliability & Information Disclosure
The rules of what the retrospective narrator discloses are still open. See: Canon › Open Questions.
