1. Summary

The D6 researcher is an unnamed scientist who, during the 1999 catastrophe, understood the danger of the Information Hazard, locked himself inside a secured room in D6 before becoming exposed, and recorded a desperate plea for rescue. His recording, found in D2 during the side quest The Silent Frequency, identifies his room and its access code; his fate is never confirmed.

2. Identity

3. Personality

His recording captures his terror and confusion. He does not understand what is happening to the people outside his door, nor why they hate him, and he believes he has done nothing to them. He struggles to regain his composure and cannot bring himself to go outside.

4. Background

The researcher understood the danger associated with the Information Hazard and managed to isolate himself before becoming exposed.

He locked himself inside a secured room, attempted to block dangerous sensory information, and avoided looking at potentially hazardous material.

However, the environment outside his room had descended into chaos.

He could hear screams and threats from people apparently affected by the catastrophe: they threatened to burn him alive and to eat his flesh.

He then identified the secured room in D6 and provided its access code, hoping that a rescue team would eventually reach him.

5. Role in the Story

His testimony mentions protective precautions and abnormal behavior, but it does not provide a complete explanation of the Information Hazard, which Edmund does not yet understand when he hears it. The questions it raises belong to the chapter. See: Campaign › 5. Mystery Base
