Research Log — Fusion Energy Division

Subject: Gravitational Focusing System — Successful Stabilization

"Today, we achieved what many of us had begun to believe was impossible.

For the first time, our reactor has sustained a stable fusion cycle while producing a continuous net electrical output.

Decades of research. Thousands of failed experiments.

And now, at last, success.

The gravitational focusing system has performed beyond our most optimistic expectations.

By manipulating the local curvature of spacetime, we have achieved a degree of laser convergence that conventional optical systems could never provide.

Our reverse-engineering efforts are finally paying dividends.

When the first components of the Artifact were delivered to our division, I doubted we would ever understand their underlying principles.

Even today, much remains beyond our comprehension.

But we have learned enough.

Humanity may one day look upon this achievement as the beginning of a new era.

Abundant energy. New industries. Possibilities that once belonged exclusively to imagination.

Perhaps one day the world will know what we accomplished here."

3. Context

The chapter calls the document a scientific research diary. It is the player's first substantial indication that Schwarzwald's technological achievements depend on knowledge obtained through reverse engineering of something extraordinary.

The author never identifies the Artifact as extraterrestrial. The document expresses the researchers' excitement over their achievement.

The document should produce curiosity rather than immediate explanation. The player may suspect advanced nonhuman technology, but the game does not confirm this conclusion.
