1.1 Core Premise

On the day they turn eighteen, twin siblings raised in a wealthy but unusually secluded Patagonian mansion discover that their father—believed to have died during their childhood—is alive in a clandestine stasis facility beneath their home. Their longtime butler, who raised them as a loving paternal figure, has maintained the father's life in secret. The father once worked as a scientist at an American–Brazilian clandestine research complex in the Amazon. He asks his children to recover something of extreme importance from that facility, while warning that speaking openly about what was discovered there could itself destroy their minds.

The story revolves around an information hazard: specific knowledge can inflict devastating psychological consequences on people who fully comprehend it, and survivors of exposure may convey the same harmful understanding to others. The phenomenon first became a catastrophe during research involving an ancient ritual object called the Skull Device / Skull Helmet. The player explores the complex, learns the history of the phenomenon and of the father's research, and ultimately returns to the mansion for a final procedure whose necessity is explained to the player before the ending.
